Josey M. Blare
Josey is part of Lynn Jackson’s litigation practice group, assisting in all types of civil litigation, as well as probate cases. She is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in South Dakota. Josey began her career with Lynn Jackson in 2022.
Josey grew up on a farm and cattle ranch outside of Carter, South Dakota. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Native American Studies, with a minor in history, from the University of South Dakota, graduating magna cum laude. She went on to law school at the USD Knudson School of Law, graduating in 2021. Josey was very active in law school as an associate editor of the South Dakota Law Review and participant in the 2020 National Native American Law Students (NNALSA) moot court competition. She also served as chapter president of her local NALSA chapter and on the NNALSA officer board, and was a graduate assistant, student ambassador for the law school, and an Access to Justice Pro-Bono Participant, completing over 50 hours of pro-bono work during law school.
Following graduation, Josey served as a law clerk for the South Dakota Sixth Judicial Circuit, covering fourteen counties in the central and south-central part of the state. She is focusing her practice of law on civil and probate litigation in the Sioux Falls office. Josey is licensed to practice law in South Dakota and the federal district court of South Dakota.
Josey can be found enjoying her free time with friends and family, reading, and golfing. She is excited to explore the city of Sioux Falls and to take advantage of the Firm’s multiple offices, which will allow her to spend more time throughout the state.
